Mexico opened this new week with a balance of 82 confirmed cases of Covid-19 coronavirus, the federal government's Secretary of Health reported Monday night.

The new figure represents an increase of 29 confirmed cases in a single day. In the cut of Sunday night, the country registered a total of 53 infected people.

So far, the country has not recorded deaths from Covid-19, although some patients are reported to be in serious condition. The undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, reported at the daily press conference to follow up on the issue that there are three citizens in that condition.

In addition, 171 other suspected cases are registered in the country.

The new report was released on the day off on the occasion of the birth of Benito Juárez.

For this Tuesday, the country will resume regular activities, although at least five states in the country and several universities have decided to immediately advance and apply the suspension of classes, as a measure to prevent contagion.

The states that decided to advance the suspension of classes for this March 17 are Guanajuato, Jalisco, Yucatan, Tamaulipas and Michoacán.

Undersecretary López-Gatell said in this regard that, although the decision of those states was "unilateral", it does not have negative consequences.
