According to data collected by the Association of Refrigerated Operations, Logistics and Distribution in Spain (ALDEFE), the average occupation of cold storage in Spain reached 78.7% in the second quarter of 2020, with a positive turnover of 22, 26% and handling of goods eleven points lower than the previous quarter.
Regarding the occupation of cold storage, Valencia, Catalonia, Asturias and Galicia occupy the first positions, reaching 88.9% of the total storage volume. It is followed by the Canary Islands with 80 percent, the North zone very closely with 70.3 percent of the total and finally, the Center zone with 65.8 percent.
Regarding the type of stored products, fish have the highest volume, with 19.7 percent, followed by the meat industry, vegetables and bread. On the contrary, with 3.3 percent, pharmaceutical products top the bottom of the ranking, just after dairy products, which narrowly reached 10 percent.
The evolution of the workforce, with three percentage points above the last figure published in March 2020, consolidates the forecast made by ALDEFE, which considers the figures as a reflection of “positive and growing business expectations”.
